EBRD Community Clean Up

The European Bank For Reconstruction and Development and Partners

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), together with the European Union (EU), Austria, the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the TaiwanBusiness–EBRD Technical Cooperation Fund and the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), is organized a community clean-up event in Amman to promote responsible waste management, environmental awareness and community participation.

The one-day event, which took place on 4 July 2026, brought together young people, families, and local stakeholders to participate in the clean-up of a public park, while encouraging responsible waste disposal and environmental awareness.

The clean-up took place alongside a public discussion bringing together community members, local authorities, and environmental experts to explore challenges and identify practical solutions for waste management. Interactive and educational activities were also be organised to raise awareness among children and families.

This event was part of a broader initiative, supported by the EBRD and its donors, to improve solid waste management systems and promote sustainable urban development in Jordan. It complements ongoing infrastructure investments by addressing the behavioural and community aspects of waste management.

Diwanieh Debate Clubs

Shoman Foundation

In partnership with Crown Prince Foundation and Athar Foundation

With the support of the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, as part of the Shoman Cultural Grants, Diwanieh implemented a series of training programmes targeting young men and women across various governorates in Jordan. The project aimed to strengthen youth participation in public dialogue by equipping participants with essential debate, communication, and critical thinking skills, enabling them to establish and manage their own debate clubs within their communities. Through these clubs, participants were encouraged to engage in meaningful discussions around social, cultural, and community-related issues, while promoting a culture of respectful dialogue, diverse perspectives, and informed civic engagement among young people.

DIWANIEH

A Space for Dialogue, Exchange, and Collective Learning.

Diwanieh is one of Leaders of Tomorrow’s flagship initiatives, designed to bring together young people, experts, decision-makers, and community members in an open and inclusive space for dialogue and knowledge exchange. Inspired by the traditional concept of the diwanieh as a gathering place for discussion and community engagement, the initiative creates opportunities for meaningful conversations around issues that shape society and influence the lives of young people.

Through interactive discussions, panel sessions, community dialogues, and networking events, Diwanieh encourages participants to explore diverse perspectives, challenge assumptions, and engage constructively with complex social, economic, political, and cultural topics. The initiative promotes a culture of respectful dialogue, critical thinking, and active participation, enabling young people to better understand the challenges facing their communities and identify opportunities for positive change.

Diwanieh serves as a bridge between youth and key stakeholders by facilitating direct engagement with policymakers, practitioners, academics, entrepreneurs, and civil society leaders. These exchanges help strengthen civic awareness, encourage informed participation in public life, and foster stronger connections between communities and decision-makers.

Over the years, Diwanieh has provided a platform for discussions on youth empowerment, social innovation, entrepreneurship, education, human rights, gender equality, civic engagement, sustainability, and other pressing development issues.

MOHAKA

MO7AKA (MOHAKA), meaning “simulation” in Arabic, is an innovative experiential learning initiative developed by Leaders of Tomorrow that uses immersive role-playing and simulation-based experiences to empower young people with the skills, knowledge, and perspectives needed to become active, responsible, and empathetic leaders. Through interactive learning, participants are encouraged to step into unfamiliar roles, challenge their assumptions, and develop a deeper understanding of complex social, political, and economic issues.

Designed to move beyond traditional training methods, MO7AKA creates realistic scenarios that allow participants to experience diverse viewpoints, navigate real-world challenges, and practice collaborative problem-solving in a safe and engaging environment. The initiative strengthens critical thinking, communication, negotiation, leadership, and decision-making skills while fostering dialogue, mutual respect, and inclusive participation.

Over the years, MO7AKA has been implemented through workshops, residential retreats, educational programmes, and youth exchanges that address a wide range of themes, including democracy, human rights, gender equality, social inclusion, conflict resolution, civic engagement, and public policy. By encouraging participants to explore different perspectives and question preconceived ideas, the initiative helps cultivate empathy, resilience, and a stronger commitment to positive social change.

FADFED

As part of Leaders of Tomorrow’s mission to empower youth and foster active citizenship, FadFed contributes to building a more inclusive and connected society by encouraging participation, promoting positive dialogue, and creating opportunities for young people to inspire change through their ideas and experiences.

FADFED, translated “Speak it Out” or “Let it Out” in Arabic, is an open platform to engage people to creatively express their opinions anonymously on issues that matter to them. It is an interactive research tool designed to collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data. FADFED can be utilized to conduct public polling, internal organizational research, and more.

FADFED involves placing white sheets of paper in public spaces and inviting individuals to write on these sheets of paper their responses to a given question/s. Researchers using FADFED categorize respondents by demographics as suits their research purposes; for instance, by age or gender. A researcher does so by establishing a color coding of markers used at a particular event. Red markers might be given to women, or green markers to those over 50 years old, as an example. FADFED generates both written and oral discussion and debate on subject topics, and thus raises awareness of often controversial or politically sensitive issues.

The Jordan Hackathon

Plan International – Danish Arab Partnership Program

The concept of Jordan Innovation Challenge was developed to serve the purpose of “Ready for Tomorrow” project that aimed at enhancing youth entrepreneurial capacities. Youth from Amman, Irbid, Jerash, and Ajloun enrolled in interactive training sessions that aimed at introducing them and developing their entrepreneurial knowledge, skills, and competencies in addition to helping them in the proper formulation and presentation of their ideas into a business plan.

This training phase aimed at equipping youth with the necessary skills and knowledge needed to advance in this field and be able to create their own successful business plans that they can, not only use to secure funding through this project, but also for any future opportunities they might encounter.

Over the course of 3-4 years, multiple versions of the challenge were adapted to serve the objectives of the project, reaching over 10k youth across the kingdom.

Diwanieh Debate Training and Tournament

The French Embassy in Jordan

DIWANIEH, with the support of the Embassy of France in Jordan collaborated to conduct a comprehensive and interactive debate-training program and tournament that aim to contribute to developing its participant’s debate, research, critical thinking and public speaking skills.

Project Outcomes:
To reach its overall objective, LOT has designed the main outcomes to be reached to ensure the success of the intervention, as follows:


Outcome 1: 28-32 youth (male and female) in the age group (20-25years old) were selected to receive 4 full days
debate training.
Outcome 2: Selected youth to undergo a debate tournament tackling various themes, with live audience attendance

Inclusive Early Childhood Education Hackathon: Early Childhood Education for Jordanian and Syrian Children in Jordan (HEROES)

In cooperation with GIZ, Leaders of Tomorrow, with the beginning of the year 2021, invited all creative individuals to participate in the Social Innovation Challenge: Educational Solutions Hackathon; an online opportunity for creation, innovation, and constructive cooperation.
The hackathon was designed to cover five themes that aimed at supporting the educational system in Jordan and the learning process for students.

After successfully passing all the hackathon stages, 5 shortlisted ideas were announced as the winners of the challenge to receive a EUR 5000 grant each along with technical support to successfully execute their innovative ideas on ground. 

In compliance with COVID-19 regulations and social distancing measures, the activities of the Social Innovation Challenge were designed to take place virtually while taking into consideration the creation of a user-friendly experience, to ensure youth from different ages and backgrounds are able to join the challenge.
